The burnout, the disconnection, the lack of motivation—it’s not who you are. It’s what you’ve learned to do to survive.
You may have noticed I’ve been quieter than usual on social media. Not because I didn’t have anything to say, but because what I had been saying didn’t feel like me anymore.
For a while, I was speaking from a version of myself I had already outgrown. I thought maybe I was burned out. I was still showing up, still serving.
But maybe I wasn't showing up enough. Maybe I was falling behind in some invisible race I never agreed to run.
But then I got still. I listened.
And what I heard was this: We’re not broken. We’re just numb.
And that realization brought both grief and grace.
If you’ve ever felt like you were running on autopilot—doing all the “right” things but still feeling disconnected—you know exactly what I mean.
A Culture That Mistakes Hustle for Healing
We live in a world that rewards the hustle, praises productivity, and celebrates the burnout badge of honor. For 28 years, I lived in that world. I still lead a corporate team. I still juggle deadlines.
But I no longer check every box just to prove I’m enough.
I became a master of over-functioning.
A professional people-pleaser.
A woman so skilled at showing up for others that I forgot how to show up for myself.
I wasn’t broken. I was numb.
Because like so many of us, I was conditioned to measure my worth by how much I could hold for everyone else.
I learned to show up so fully for others that I forgot how to show up for me.
Numbing Isn’t Always Obvious
We often think of numbing as substance use, overeating, scrolling endlessly.
But it’s also…
-
Saying “I’m fine” when you’re not.
-
Staying busy so you never have to feel.
-
Over-giving so you never have to receive.
-
Silencing your intuition because it doesn’t fit the plan.
We don’t numb because we’re weak, we numb because we were never taught how to feel safely.
Because as children, many of us learned that love was conditional.
That approval came when we performed.
That being still meant being vulnerable.
So we created armor made of achievement, and we called it strength.
The Awakening
But now—there’s a shift. A crack in the facade.
Maybe you’ve felt it too.
You’re tired of pretending.
Tired of hustling for your worth.
Tired of being everything to everyone and feeling like nothing to yourself.
That exhaustion you feel isn’t a failure of motivation—it’s a signal from your soul.
A sacred nudge saying:
“It’s time to come home to yourself.”
Beyond Numbing Is Where We Begin Again
The truth is, we don’t always recognize our own disconnection because the world we live in tells us it's normal.
But I’m here to help you question that.
To help you come back to yourself.
And to show you what’s possible when you choose to feel again.
That’s the heart of Beyond Numbing.
It’s not just a message. It’s my mission.
And it’s the name of the challenge I’m currently creating—a 5-day jSelf-Love Reset to help you understand why you’ve been feeling stuck, emotionally flat, or disconnected… and how to begin reconnecting with your truth.
It’s also the title of the book I’ll be releasing Summer of 2026.
And it’s already shaping every part of how I serve.
If this resonates, you’re not alone.
And you’re not behind.
You’re just waking up, and that’s a beautiful place to begin.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
This is why I’ve been pouring my heart into Beyond Numbing—a movement, a challenge, and an upcoming book that I believe the world desperately needs.
We’re not broken.
We’re disconnected—from our bodies, our breath, our truth.
And the way forward isn’t through pushing harder.
It’s through softening. Listening. Reconnecting.
Ready to Begin?
If something in you whispered yes while reading this, I want to invite you to begin your own Beyond Numbing journey. While I finish up the final touches on the challenge, I'd love to offer you other ways to start your journey.
Start with grounding. Literally. Come back into your body. Feel your breath.

There is nothing broken about a nervous system in survival.
There is nothing wrong with you.
And you are not alone in this.
You’re not lazy.
You’re waking up.
And that is sacred.
With love,
Amie
