Five ways to Diffuse All Day with Essential Oils

Young Living Diffusing all day

Diffusing All Day

Diffusing all day? Are you saying to yourself, what is a diffuser and why would I want to diffuse all day? Well, I am here to explain the benefits of diffusing and why I not only recommend that you diffuse, but that you have multiple diffusers.  It is completely possible to diffuse all day.

I am a guilty party of one, as I absolutely love diffusing and have a diffuser in every room in the house. Don’t judge, but it’s true and when I say every room, I mean every room. We have an Aria diffuser in the family room that diffuses family blends when we are all hanging out as a family. My downstairs is not large at all; the nearby kitchen gets the benefits from that Aria diffuser. There is a Dew Drop diffuser in the downstairs bathroom for all guests to experience. The dining room has the Desert Mist diffuser. And every single bedroom also has a diffuser for the specific bedtime routines and sleepy time oil blends. Some may say that is overkill, but after you experience the benefits of essential oils, you may also fall in love.

What is a diffuser?

A diffuser is a device that holds water and essential oils. The cold-air diffusion atomizes a micro-fine mist of essential oils into the air. This mist can remain suspended for several hours. Unlike aroma lamps and candles, a diffuser disperses essential oils without heating or burning, which can render the oil less beneficial. And unlike candles, essential oils are not scented with fragrances that could possibly be carcinogenic. With Young Living essential oils, you only get the pure therapeutic-grade oil in the bottle. There are no chemicals, fillers or anything synthetic. If you aren’t familiar with Young Livings Seed to Seal guarantee, check out how Young Living stands behind their purity at

How Essential Oils work through Inhalation

Inhalation can be the most direct method of getting essential oils into the bloodstream. Essential oils are made up of tiny molecules that can deliver healing properties to the body and control the various body systems. When inhaled, the essential oils travel through the olfactory system of the nose. Tiny nerves send an immediate signal to the brain and get to work on the systems that moderate the mind and body. Cool right?

Our cast of Young Living Diffusers

Our cast of diffusers

Dew Drop diffuser

This diffuser is shaped like its name and is offered in the Premium starter kit. It covers approximately 323 square feet of living space. The Dew Drop runs for approximately 4 hours and has a light within that can be a constant while it’s running, or the light can be turned off while its diffusing.

Desert Mist Diffuser

This is one of the new diffusers that was introduced during the 2017 Young Living Convention. The Desert Mist was recently added to the line up of diffusers available with the purchase of a Premium Starter kit. It has multiple light settings that can make the internal light illuminate in red, green, blue, orange, yellow, natural white, and a setting that resembles a candle flicker. That is my favorite setting.

Rainstone Diffuser

The Rainstone diffuser is a handcrafted piece of art, and is also available as a diffuser choice when purchasing a premium starter kit. It has been created with rare purple clay and so beautiful in person. One feature I love is the ability to choose how long you which to diffuse. While using the remote, you can choose 1, 2, 3, 6 and 8-hour settings with automatic shutoff. It covers the same space with 323 square feet, but this diffuser can run for up to 8 hours. It’s also a negative ionizer.

Aria Ultrasonic Diffuser

The Aria is my favorite diffuser of the Young Living diffusers. It features a solid American maple base and remote, glass dome to help direct the essential oil mist, multi-colored LED lights, and spa-like chimes. It covers a larger area with 430 square feet. Young Living allows each member to only order one during his or her membership.

For smaller, traveled sized diffusers, there are a few choices to choose from. These do not come as options in the Premium Starter kit but are great additions for a busy family.

The Orb-diffuser is just that, a small orb-shaped diffuser that is perfect for traveling. I keep one in the cup holder of the car, and its specifically designed to be spill-proof. This little diffuser provides intermittent or continuous diffusion for up to 4.5 hours.

The USB Diffuser fits in the USB ports for diffusing your favorite essential oils where ever you go. Use it with your laptop, your car, your office, or bring it along on a trip. It’s mobile, compact and silent with 10 second, 30 second and 60-second interval settings. It fits in your purse pocket and is a great on-the-go diffuser.

For the little oilers in our life, we have to also mention the diffusers that are specifically designed for children. Young Living offers three child-themed diffusers.

The Dino Land Ultrasonic diffuser features color-illuminated vapor “erupting” from a prehistoric volcano surrounded by a T-rex, triceratops, and pterodactyl. The volcanic eruptions have six different LED light settings, red, white, green, blue, alternating and off). The Dino Land diffuser acts as an atomizer, aroma-diffuser and a night-light. It can run on a continuous or intermittent setting with automatic shutoff.

The Dolphin Reef Ultrasonic diffuser features a playful mother dolphin and her calf swimming through color-illuminated mist released by pink sea sponges. The colorful coral, starfish, sea anemones and a pearl-bearing giant clam will captivate any child’s imagination. It also has continuous or intermittent settings with an auto shut off. There are six vapor LED light settings, (blue, white, red, green, alternating and off). And the clam creates a perfect place to store jewelry and other small treasures.

The last of the children-themed diffusers is the Sundance Ultrasonic Diffuser. This diffuser was inspired by D. Gary Young’s love for horses and showcases a wild stallion exhaling color-illuminated mist while rearing upward in a cliff top. This diffuser is also an atomizer, aroma diffuser and night-light. It offers the same settings, as the other two and also has the six light settings that shine upward from the base onto the horse.

With all of the various diffusers available from Young Living, there are so many ways to introduce diffusing into your daily routines. Regardless of what your daily schedule looks like, chances are good you are on the go 24/7 and there is never enough time in the day. Girl, I hear ya and I have your back. Let me show you some examples of ways to diffuse all day.

Diffusing in the Morning

Diffusing All day - morning routines

We have always been told that starting our day with a good breakfast, is a great way to start the day. Well, I also like to start the day with our diffuser going. Peppermint and Lemon are perfect essential oils for a wake-up diffuser blend. This can be going in your bathroom diffuser while you are getting ready, or perhaps in your kitchen diffuser while you are getting the kids fed and out the door. Having a diffuser going in the kitchen is an easy way to help them also get the benefits to diffusing.  Young Living’s blend Clarity or Brain Power are other oils that can be used to start your day off right.

Other great morning blends are Stress away and Lime; Thieves and Orange, and Young Livings blend called Motivation is another one that I like to use.

I have different diffuser blends for the drive to work. In my orb diffuser that I leave in the car, I like to add Awaken, Joy or Sacred Mountain. These blends are uplifting and empowering. I’ve also sometimes added Gratitude or Clarity, which are two amazing blends. As you find which oil blends work best for you, you can leave these oils in the car so that you have them with you at all times.  I have found that sometimes, I need these same oils for help with mental clarity at the office, and I’ll grab them from the car. Yes, I am the crazy oil lady.

Midday Diffusing

Diffusing all day - Midday

We all need a little pick-me-up in the middle of the day. I love to diffuse Bergamot when I’m at work. This single oil is from the citrus family and it has amazing uplifting qualities that I like. Its light citrus aroma is also perfect for an office environment too since it isn’t too overpowering for any coworkers. Other midday slump essential oil blends are En-R-Gee for energy. Tangerine and Spearmint to help feel invigorated. Or Rosemary, Orange, and Peppermint for mental focus, energy and for a good uplifted mood. During the Autumn and Winter months, when germs and sickness become issues, I will add Thieves and Orange to the diffuser to help maintain overall wellness in the office.

If you have little oilers that need to settle down for a nap, there are several oil blends that can help calm their minds. Different oils work for different people based on the body chemistry, so be sure to try different blends and see what works for you. Here are some of the essential oils, and oil blends that have worked for us.

Peace & Calming is a Young Living blend that contains Ylang Ylang, Orange, Tangerine, Patchouli and Blue Tansy. This oil is a wonderful addition for times of meditation, evening family times, or for moments of quiet.

Gentle Baby is another blend that contains Coriander, Geranium, Palmarosa, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Roman Chamomile and other essential oils. The uses for this Young Living blend are countless, but when diffused it is perfect for nurtured feelings to help a baby nap.

And we can’t forget about Lavender essential oil. Lavender is another oil that has countless uses, but its relaxing properties cannot go overlooked. When I started using essential oils, over 4 years ago, lavender was the first oil that I used. It was the night before school, and the kids were too excited to sleep. I applied Lavender to the bottoms of their feet, wrists and behind their ears. They smelled the oil first, so they knew what I was applying. Little did I know at the time, that they were getting the benefits of Lavender by merely smelling the oil from the bottle. And within minutes, they were both fast asleep. This was my first testimonial, and over the last four years, I have been using essential oils every day since.

Diffusing After School

diffusing all dal - homeworkSpeaking of the kids and school, essential oils can be used for after school as well. When kids get home from school, they can be tired from a long day and need an extra boost. Or perhaps they are super excited from their day at school and they need to calm their minds to focus on their studies. Regardless of which scenario you are faced with, here are some essential oil blends that you can diffuse.

For a calming environment, try placing Peace & Calming in the diffuser. You can add other oils to this blend as well for a custom diffuser blend. I really like Stress Away and Lime together. The Young Living blend Grounding with Orange essential oil is another calming diffuser recipe.

To get them to a mental place to study, I recommend using the Kidscents’ Geneyus blend to help them focus on their homework. GeneYus is a pre-diluted blend that is designed specifically for our little oilers. Peppermint is another stimulating oil, and I really like adding Lemon when I diffuse Peppermint. Remember that everyone is different so diffuse what works best for your family.

Diffusing for Family Time

Diffusing all day - FamilyFamily time is the harmonious time of the evening where you have quality time together as a family. This is another great time to diffuse. You can have your children be part of this diffusing time by asking them to choose which oils they prefer. Or, you can use this to try a blend that you haven’t tried before. Experiment with this diffusing time, and see what works best for you.

Some great Young Living essential oil blends for family time are Harmony, Present Time, Oola family, and Joy. And some fun diffusing recipes are:

Try diffusing Purification and Lemon for a fresh, clean environment.

A seasonal blend of Orange, Cinnamon, Ginger, and Clove is also great.

And during the holidays, I really like to add a blend called Christmas Spirit to the diffuser.

Diffusing at Bedtime

diffusing all day - bedtimeBedtime routines come in all different shapes and sizes. And what works for one child might not work for the other. This is why I have a diffuser in each bedroom. Each of my children has their favorite oils that work for them. For general sleep, I recommend Lavender or the Kidscents blend SleepyIze. The Young Living blend DreamCatcher is a great blend for tougher cases or anyone struggling with bad dreams.

For adults, Lavender and Cedarwood is a great combination. Stress away and Lavender is another combination that works and each of those oils come in the Premium Starter kit. I also like the relaxing essential oil blends are Peace & Calming and Lavender. Again, there are so many possibilities and you just need to see what works best for you and your family.

I hope that this demonstrated not only all of the diffuser choices available from Young Living, but also how easy it is to diffuse all day. We always have our diffusers going and are always trying new blends. Be sure to keep your diffusers clean. Regular maintenance will help the diffuser last longer, and the aromas remain distinct without carryover from the previous diffuser blend.
